Whirr are a young band from the bay area that is part of an apparent shoegaze revival/scene in the States.  While they take influence from staples such as My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, Whirr have added a noticeable contemporary spin on the genre with songs that sidestep usual rhythms and dynamics of most shoegaze.  One of the best albums of the year so far, and one of the few current shoegaze bands that is fresh and interesting.
