Hailed as a hip hop classic and 2Pac's definitive statement on its release, All Eyez On Me has unfortunately seen reactionary criticism in recent years. Critics would have you believe that because the singles make up the first disc, that leaves an hour of filler (book 2)
Fresh out of prison, All Eyez On Me needed to be two discs long 'cause that's how much effort 2Pac wanted to cram into it. You can feel the passion in every track (even the mediocre ones like What'z Ya Phone No.) and the huge celebration of life and freedom that the album embodies is so ridiculously moving and life affirming that I don't know how you can call it anything other than great
Then there's the fact that the second disc is far from bad. True, it's not as solid as disc 1 (which is ridiculously solid), but how could songs as good as Can't C Me, Rather Be Ya Nigga, All Eyez on Me and Heaven Ain't Hard 2 Find ever be considered filler?
A+
